$250 Million Ohio Schol Projects

COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Ohio School Facilities Commission recently approved contracts for more than $249 million in school construction and renovation work at 42 school districts.

The projects will support an estimated 2,270 jobs, according to commission reports.

“These projects are another example of the positive impact of Ohio’s school construction program — not only on the delivery of high quality education facilities, but also in providing good jobs in lean economic times,” says Richard Murray, the OSFC executive director.

The contracts were approved by the commission after competitive bids for the work were first awarded by the local boards of education.

In June, Ohio school officials dedicated new construction projects in districts throughout the state, including a new South Bloomfield Elementary School, a new K-12 school developed by the Versailles Exempted Village School District, and two PK-8 schools in Dayton City.

Since its inception in 1997, the OSFC has disbursed over $8.3 billion for school construction and renovations, resulting in the occupancy of 760 buildings serving an estimated 423,000 children.
