Perkins + Will, with a location in San Francisco, designed the Campus for Research Excellence And Technological Enterprise (CREATE), a global research community that comprises three mid-rise buildings and a high-rise tower, in Singapore. The project earned the architecture firm a Laboratory of the Year last year for its unconventional lab design.

New Center at King’s College Lands AIA Award

The $10.5 million King’s College Scandlon Health and Wellness Center, designed by Spillman Farmer Architects, has received the 2013 Award of Excellence from the American Institute of Architects, Eastern Pennsylvania Chapter. Jurors particularly noted the building’s elegant and restrained composition, careful proportions, color pallet and material use, as well as its open nature.

Davis Plans for Downtown University Gateway District

Plans for the 100-acre Downtown University Gateway District were presented to the Davis City Council on Feb. 11. It would combine the development of three different properties that would include high-density housing; research facilities for the University of California, Davis; and shopping and entertainment for Davis citizens.

FSU Completes New LEED Gold Honors Facility

Florida State University (FSU) celebrated the formal dedication of its new Honors, Scholars and Fellows House on March. 6. The four-story, 37,000-square-foot annex in the heart of the FSU campus offers students an academically inspiring setting, and facilitates intellectual exchange among honors undergraduates, graduate students and fellows.

Prairie View A&M Breaks Ground on Ag Business Building

Construction has begun on the new Agriculture & Business Multipurpose Classroom Building at Prairie View A&M University. Plans were finalized in August 2013, and crews broke ground on the 96,000-square-foot facility shortly after the New Year.
