Susan Martin

Susan Martin, Ph.D., has been named interim president of San Jose State University (SJSU) in San Jose, Calif. Martin, formerly president of Eastern Michigan University (EMU), brings extensive experience in managing large, diverse universities and will begin her duties at SJSU on Aug. 18. Prior to her tenure as EMU president, Martin served as the provost and vice chancellor of academic affairs at the University of Michigan at Dearborn. She also spent 18 years at Grand Valley State University where she was a professor, department chair, program administrator, assistant and associate vice president for academic affairs, and the executive associate vice president of academic affairs. She holds a bachelor’s degree in public speaking from Central Michigan University and a MBA and Ph.D. in accounting from Michigan State University.
