Tom Laging

AIA Fellow Tom Laging, an emeritus professor of architecture at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL), has been named the 2014 recipient of the Harry F. Cunningham Gold Medal for Architectural Excellence in Nebraska. The honor is the highest the Nebraska Chapter of the AIA bestows and recognizes distinguished achievement in architecture or service to the profession of architecture in the state. Laging graduated from the University of Nebraska with a bachelor’s degree in architecture and completed his master’s in architecture at Harvard University. He also served in the Peace Corps and taught at Simon Bolivar University in Caracas, Venezuela as a Fulbright Senior Lecturer. Most recently he has served as director of the architecture program at UNL, as the Killinger Distinguished Professor of Urban Design and Architecture and as chairman of the Nebraska State Board of Engineers and Architects.
