Marilyn Taylor

Marilyn Taylor, renowned architect and dean of the Penn School of Design, will extend her tenure at the university through June 2016. Taylor accepted her position in 2008, and has since seen the department’s study body grow by 13 percent. Taylor is a former partner at Skidmore Owings & Merrill LLP, where she served in the Urban Design and Planning practice. She was also the first woman to chair the firm, and was the first woman and first architect to chair the Urban Land Institute. Taylor is a 1969 graduate of Radcliffe College, and also attended the Graduate School of Architecture at MIT. She later earned her master’s in architecture from the University of California at Berkeley.
