Joseph G. Burns

The Structural Engineering Institute (SEI) of the American Society of Civil Engineers has named Joseph G. Burns, a managing principal at Thornton Tomasetti, an SEI Fellow. Burns joined Thornton Tomasetti in 1995, and has more than 30 years experience in building design and renovation. He specializes in the design of complex structural systems, including earthquake engineering and dynamic analysis for a variety of project types including education, aviation, performing arts, retail, hotels and museums. Burns earned his bachelor’s degree in architecture from the University of Notre Dame, and also holds master’s degrees in architecture and civil engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
